Offered a loan regardless of credit history? Beware!
Loan scams are targeted at people with past credit problems. You might be told that you can get a loan if you pay an "insurance," "security" or processing fee up front, ranging from $400 to $2,500, or that a down payment or purchase of special mortgage insurance is needed before the loan can be processed.
Consumer advocates warn that, usually, the scam artists will just take your money and run.
