Phishing Attacks use Spam to Steal your Identity An email that appears to be from your bank might actually be from an impostor who's seeking your account number, Social Security number, and other information for the purpose of identity theft. When you click the email to visit the indicated web page, a
fake address bar in your browser may convince you that you are actually are on the bank's website.
In addition to banks and credit card websites, similar ploys lead victims to fake Ebay and PayPal and AOL websites.
