Free credit reports enter the election campaign. In response to John Kerry's claim that criticized the president has neglected the middle class, the Bush's re-election campaign noted that the president signed a bill to help protect consumers from identity theft, including
provisions for free credit reports and a national fraud-alert system to minimize damage once a theft has occurred.
